since we’re on the subject of cheap thrills

But I don’t need no money

So keeg.org has been down for 2+ weeks. Not that any of you noticed.  I tried my damnedest to get the last droplet working again, never did figure out precisely what was wrong with it.  Whatever, I turned up a new instance, reinstalled WP and then added the db back.  Walla, keeg is working again.  WP, for being such a piece has some pretty neat features.

I set this server up considerably better than the last one.  Left the firewall and selinux on, configured logins for SSH, disabled root logins.  I’m trying to move the port, but so far I’ve been unsuccessful even though its a pretty simple procedure.  Its just not taking for some reason.  Once I get that in place, I’ll probably add fail2ban and some basic ddos protection.

I did add newrelic, google analytics, and uptimerobot.  See if I can’t do a better job of keeping it up and stable.

NMS – Damnit.

So the idea was to record every minute of No Man’s Sky.  To show what it really takes to upgrade your ship, get some bad ass weapons and own a solar system or 30.  After an hour of tweaking settings trying to get it to play without video issues I turned on I started recording and started up a brand new game.  I hadn’t really done anything in the earlier attempts while trying to get my video stable, so I’m basically retarded in this initial video.  I might set it up on my boy’s desktop, the only real difference would be desktop video vs laptop video, which is minimal.

Anyway, I’m still playing, I’m hoping for something awesome to happen.  So far, it has not been awesome.

  • Desperate for bag space
  • Quest chains are kinda difficult to follow.. would be nice to have a ‘quest’ window.
  • I’m still not sure I understand the equipment upgrades
  • I spawned onto a planet with trees, animals, shrubs, ores… I’ve been to 15 planets, and maybe 2 others had animal life, half have minimal shrubbery, I don’t think I’ve seen a tree since.
